Just happened to see this on the XDA forums:

    http://store.three.co.uk/view/product/ql_catalog/threecatdevice/2606?id=1183

I have this phone and the reason I went with it is the smaller size and amazing battery life. Will easily last a full day with regular use. It offers all the standard stuff too, wifi hotspot, HD recording etc. It has 8gb internal space and is expandable with Micro SD.

This case is specifically for the Razr I: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-S-LiNE-GEL-BACK-CASE-SKiN-FOR-MOTOROLA-RAZR-i-XT890-/290896982086?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:IE:3160

There's a lot of cases that say razr i, but they are for the Razr M I think.

I bought 2nd hand ones recently for others too and paid about €150/€160 so £150 for a brand new one is pretty good deal I think.

If anyone is into ROMS and modding their phones and gets this, maybe you can help me as I was on XDA looking for a way to ROOT this phone and put a clean ROM install on it that will be bloatware free and stable. So I'm thinking whatever the latest stock one is without all the bloat but I'm finding it hard to work out what's what..

It's out of stock and AFAIK you also had to buy a top up with it and also get it unlocked to work with networks over here.

Damn, just see it's out of stock. I think it will work with any network. Ones sold here direct from emobile/meteor work with any network and I think my friend got one from the UK that works fine here too.

It boggles the mind that Three over here didn't take up the Razr I. Been with them since 2008 and was hoping to get this from them. £149 is a ridiculous price considering Amazon and Expansys are selling it for twice that and more at the moment.

It might be back in stock - I Got to checkout page anyway fine; not gonna buy, just in case.

Seems to be back in stock for me too, getting to check out page ok. With the top up, it works out at £159, you could probably get it delivered to parcel motel so it'll work out just shy of €200 delivered I think.

Just a reminder to anyone considering this phone, it uses an Intel X86 processor so not all apps will be compatible with it. Not sure how many just thought I'd mention it.

Never knew that myself, haven't had any issues myself although I'm not much of an app man, have been using all the same apps for about 2 years give or take one or two :)

This phone has been a favourite on the The Phones Show youtube show/podcast, they seem to suggest it has some issues originally but since its last update it fixed most things. They seem to like it.

Yeah I think it's great. It just works, has a battery that lasts all day and maybe even into the next depending on your usage and is a size that's fits into your pocket and can be taken back out when sitting down easily and operated with one hand.

Only problems I've had is a data roaming nag where every time you drop out of data coverage while roaming, once it comes back it prompts you to accept using data while roaming, even if you have "allow data roaming" selected in options. Also wish there was a way to have USB mass storage but it hasn't been too much of an issue so far.

I am trying to use Parcel Motel but its not working. Its asking for the postcode of the billing address which obviously wont work as the card is irish. If I input the PM postcode it lists addresses for that code but doesn't include the PM address. A popup details that they don't deliver to business addresses. Would there be any workaround for this?

Have you tried just enter "none" for the post code? Or is there an option for it not to look up the address?

Ya tried all the usual things like None, na, IRL etc . They use the postcode to determine to coverage in the area and you cannot skip the address lookup.

Damn, unless you just try with another Belfast postcode on the billing address and hope for the best?

I have a feeling as soon as they see that the postcode is UK and the card is irish they will cancel. The other problem is that the list of addresses that appears doesn't include "1A McIlhenney Rd" only "1E"
I am going to try later on today and see what happens

Try 0000 as postcode, usually works for me. Let us know how you get on, interested in ordering one myself.

Edit: Just tried to order on and realize the problem, you put in the postcode that it will be sent to and then select the address from a list. The parcel motel address isnt on the list because its a business address.

If anybody knows how to get around this I'd be very greatful, as would many other members im sure.

Ive changed to a Nokia 920 a few days ago therefore i have a 6 month old Razr I in pristine condition if anyone wants it,i havent had a chance to stick it on adverts.ie yet though as im kind of in two minds whether to keep for my son or sell but i think id prefer the young lad to have a basic phone but if someone wants it ill probably let it go.
Sorry to hijack this thread but some people might prefer not to use parcel motel.

EDIT : scratch that folks, the wife wants to keep it as a spare which tbh isnt a bad idea.

Great phone though guys, battery life is insane.

Does anyone know if this offer would be in store as well? Have relatives from the UK coming over in 2 weeks.

Will any Irish sim work in this phone or will I have to get I unblocked?

Every Razr I I've used has been unlocked even when bought from Meteor, emobile etc. I think they are unlocked but can't be sure.

Thanks going to chance it but its off the 3 network in england so I guess it will be tied to that network

There's a good chance it won't be, best of luck :)

Did anyone manage to get one from Three? Was it locked? How are us finding it? Thinking of getting one now myself as I lost my Nexus 4 I found it a bit big anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 367 ✭✭Chewabacca

One should be arriving early next week here, ill let you all know what the story it. Hopefully it wont be too expensive to unlock if it is indeed locked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 987 ✭✭✭Kenny Powers

I used unlockonline.com to unlock my Vodafone mini according to the website they can do the razr I for 10e so not too bad once it works.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 298 ✭✭GobBass

Thinking about getting this early next month. The only issue I've found by looking at reviews is the less-than impressive quality of the camera as said by the lads at GSM Arena. Other than that, it kicks ass.

Flash does knot work on this phone..
I have one and it's great but this might make a difference to some people

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

Camera seems fine to me. 1080p recording etc, for phone snaps it's grand. Not as good as some of the other phones out there for sure but for a phone, still great. Of course the big big plus with this is the excellent battery, you can happily play music, look stuff up, text, call etc without having to worry about the battery dying a few hours later, of course it still has it's limits and if you heavily use it, it might die before the day is out, but compared to other phones it's brilliant. I think it's meant to be one of the best batteries on any phone.

You can install flash player on android. You can't install directly from the Play Store as it is not supported by Adobe anymore but it still works. For example: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1061194

Did you receive the phone yet and was it locked to the three network, if so did you get it unlocked. Thanks

I works with a three ireland sim, haven't tried any others.

Would advise anyone to get on, top phone i've been using it for a while. holds up considerable to an s3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

I reckon it's unlocked. I don't know if Three UK = Three Ireland, if you could check with a vodafone/o2/meteor sim and post back it'd be great as I think there's a few here putting off getting it incase it's locked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 shimyshimy

Has anyone tried this on another network beside three?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 298 ✭✭GobBass

If I recall, Meteor was the only network that did it at €349 about a year ago or a bit more.

Is this a step up from the One X?

Did anyone who ordered it off the Three's website manage to get it posted to parcel motel or an Irish address?

Has anyone got this phone for £149? I was trying to purchase it earlier and it seems you have to buy a minimum of £10 top up?
