Ireland call for the Washington R-words to change their name

American Football may not be the most followed sport in Ireland, but time to put pressure on the US to weed out this racist team name nevertheless. Unless they change it, support referring to them only as 'Washington' or the 'Washington Native Americans'.

Wouldn't it be as well for them to revert to Washington Braves as this was name when started in Boston. That way they distance redskins name which was adopted to honour lone star dietz aka William Henry Dietz who claimed to be an indian. Personally Washington Redskins fits best.

If a lot of native-american people find it offensive, sure, changing it might not be a bad idea. In this instance, it feels like some vocal people are going out of their way to be offended.

Maybe the focus group will help find if there is a significant number of people offended, though it'd be better if it was independent.

The "skins" aint gonna change their name while the current owner is walking the earth, anyway native americans should be happy that one of the biggest sports franchises in world sport has a native american as its emblem it keeps the indian in the public eye shur the only other time you would even see or think about a native american in the states would be if you called in to one of their many little (massive) gambling havens
