I've got nearly 20euro credit on my phone at the moment and since I want to switch provider I will loose that. I was wondering does anyone know any charities that can be donated to by text?

    Text Donations Terms & Conditions

To donate €4 to the UNICEF Ireland Children of Syria Emergency Appeal, mobile phone users in the Republic of Ireland can text SYRIA to 50300. €4 is then debited from the users’ mobile phone of which UNICEF Ireland receives the entire €4 donation

    OP that's a class idea!

I usually have credit left over at the end of the month before I top up with the usual €20 and text donations to charities like this would be a nice way to use up the bit of credit I'd never use anyway :)

ISPCA and Limerick Animal Welfare also accept text donations.

Apart from wanted to do a good deed, why not just use the credit up before switching?

Because it wouldn't get him any thanks on Boards...

Only joking, OP. Really good idea that would never have crossed my mind. Fair play.

Jack and Jill are running a text campaign at the moment as their gov funding has been very harshly cut.

Text 'we care' to 50300 and jack and Jill will recieve 4 euro per text.
Jack and Jill will recieve 100% of all 4€ donated

    Fabulous idea op

I texted "bikofag" Hope that helps.:p

    Brilliant idea OP.
Why should Vodafone, O2, Denis O'Brien etc hang on to billions and pay minimal tax from all that unused credit, when a worthy cause could do better with it.
My dad always up to a hundred credit on his phone because of topping up but not really using

It can actually be really difficult to use credit.

If you're on something like that 3 all you can eat contract then your calls, texts, and data is all free so I'd imagine that's why! I really should switch over to pay as you go....

    Great idea OP.

Don't three allow threepay now, where you can pay for services etc using credit on your phone?

I think o2 do the same so can you use this to donate on CC sites? or is that only for certain sites or apps?

I'm not really sure whether it's network related or not (might be possible with o2 money card payments alright to tie them together), but I know the Nokia Store allows payments using pre-paid credit, taking it directly from your phone credit.

Three though as whoops said are very hard to use up credit on, between the free 3 to 3 calls, free texts to all networks, more data than you'll ever use on a mobile (tethering is against their t&c) so you can skype and viber, whatsapp, and that's even before they apply the €10 to your account for topping up by €20!

I'm often left with about €15 to use up after the 30 days are up!
