Are these clothes ok for interview?

I have an informal interview coming up. Usually I would wear office clothes for interviews but I don't want to look too overdressed. I'm female 24.

Wondering would skinny black jeans be acceptable? With black ankle boots or would this look like a "night out" look?

For the top, could I go with a coloured blouse (blue or pink) with a design/pattern on it? Or stick to white?

    Thank you for any replies!

What job are you interviewing for? I worked in a job where people wore smart casual, but for the interview I wore a dress and a blazer. Generally, if in doubt, it's always better to be over-dressed than under-dressed.

My feeling is that any kind of jeans count as too casual for even an informal interview. Maybe some slim leg trousers instead, just as comfortable but not as obviously casual? I would go for the coloured blouse though, it'd be good to wear something eye-catching without being too flamboyant :)

I am in the same boat with an interview coming up and everyone I have asked said wear a suit. Better to look good and stand out instead of being under dressed and "scruffy" looking.

They say to dress for the job you want, not the job you have....

    Don't know if that helps!

But yeah, it depends big style on what he job is.

Being too formally dressed (or overdressed) will not be frowned upon even if casual/informal was acceptable. However dressing casual/informal when formal was expected can work against you. If you have equal skills/abilities/good personality as a fellow interviewee, then it could be the visual appearance that was the deciding factor as to why the other candidate got the job if they were dressed up and you were casual.

Play it safe and dress up. It's only for an hour of your time!

It really depends. I think that couple of months ago someone was asking about how to dress for an interview with River Island and the advice was to express herself and be more daring. There are jobs where white shirt and black skirt will be considered a bit boring. Nobody can really tell you without knowing what is it for.

That's spot on. If that was an IT job you could easily go in a tech/geeky t and jeans. If that's an office job I'd suggest a suit. If retail I think you can be more casual and maybe wear a dress and a blazer.

    Job Interview = suit
No matter what your interviewing for wear a suit. If you really want to dress it down remove the blazer and just go with blouse but no more than that.

Good luck with the Interview ;)
