Hi I've got a no Satellite signal error 29 on a standard sky box. I swapped it for another box and got the same error so from what I've read the lnb on the dish probably needs to be replaced.

The dish is up for over ten years so will it still be possible to get an lnb to fit it. If so how much should I expect to pay a local company to supply and fit one. Thanks in advance.

Putting in an LNB is piss easy you can buy it yourself and put it on.

Thanks for your reply I don't have access to the dish that's why I asked how much i could expect to pay to have one supplied and fitted.

Would it be possible that the LNB or the dish itself has moved even slightly as that can cause loss of signal.

Are you a sky customer at the moment?
If so get them to do it, and threaten to leave if they try to charge you.

Can't be sure of course but was getting the error on and off lately and restarting the box used sort it. Missus said it was working fine last night and just went off. There wasn't any wind so im guessing its given the ghost up. There's nothing in the signal strength or quality boxes.

It might sound silly but check and see that the cables are still connected to the back of the box and as for ringing Sky and threatening them that you will leave because your Sky isnt working is nonsense they will just get you to do a basic troubleshoot if that doesnt work out they will try and get an engineer out which in turn you will be charged by them. I dont think you calling Sky and threatening to leave is going to be helpful.

Usually its the dish after moving or the LNB after moving, LNB being faulty or maybe your Sky box is faulty or the cable has come out somewhere.

    If memory serves me correct.
Old sky lnb's are different from your 'run of the mill' lnb's that most Free to Air kits give you these days.

It's something to do with the plastic arm: http://www.tvtrade.ie/sky-mk4-to-mk3-lnb-legacy-adaptor.html

So be wary of that op if you plan on doing it yourself.

All the cables are ok I swapped over another box and got the same error. Don't think anything moved so im guessing the lnb is faulty. Just trying to get an idea of how much to supply and fit one before I make some calls

Thanks I don't intend to do it myself just trying to get an idea of the cost to supply and fit one before I make some calls.

    Oh in that case :p

Well i'll give you one example. My mate got a plastic satellite dish with quad LNB and 4 cables fully-fed for €90 euro two years ago. I was there on the day and the chap doing it was very professional and a sound bloke to boot. We asked him to feed the cables under a roof tile into the attic. It absolutely poured out of the heavens a few days later and not one single drop of water. It was a good job.

€90 euro for dish/quad lnb/4 coax cables fed is very good value in my opinion (my mate bought the recievers elsewhere)

    But first off, ask yourself:
    - Are you looking to replace with an Single, Dual or Quad Lnb?
    - Ten years is enough time to make your Sky Dish rusty and out of allignment. So you might have to replace.

    Hi!

I know you may have a soultion by now, but I just had this issue, getting the No Satellite Signal Error 29 and after some looking around online, I found this solution and figured I would share it here for yourself or anyone else who searches for a sloution here.
If a full power reset does not work you may also wish to try restoring the software onto the box by following the steps below:

    1. Power the box off at the mains power supply.

    3. Locate the backup button on the front/top of the box.

    4. Press and hold in the Backup button, and while doing this switch the box back on at the mains supply.

    5. Continue to hold the Backup button after you have powered on, you should see within 60 seconds 3 more lights come on the front of the box? At this stage you can release the Backup button.

    6. If you have 4 lights lit, it means the box is going through the forced download procedure. Leave for 15 minutes then try to see if your Issue is resolved.

I'm just after using it and it worked. I have my signal back and didn't lose any programs in my Sky Planner.

This was on a Sky+ HD box.
