    Hi guys,

Posting for my brother. He was offered a contract with Comfort Keepers. They were unable to tell him how many hours they could give him. He is currently on the Back to Education Allowance and in receipt of mortgage interest supplement. His question is, if he takes up employment firstly how will this affect his benefits and secondly are there any social welfare schemes available where he can keep some of his benefit in the case he doesn't get many hours. He is keen to start work but can't afford to be down money and is afraid once he signs off the Live Register there may be implications. The uncertainty of the number of hours he'll be offered is a real problem.

He has been in full time education for the past three years so I think he may be classed as long-term unemployed. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks guys

Won't say too much but I would recommend looking into how that company operates, how it treats its employees, etc.

It won't affect his BTEA but could affect his MIS. You can earn upto 75 euro per week before the MIS is affected.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
