How come women aren't as musically inclined as men and generally have worse taste in music?

As a musically illiterate husband whose wife is an excellent musician and teacher, I can only ask you how come your mind is not inclinned to operate.

Well who's the female equivalent of The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, etc.

How can you say they have worse taste? Music is all about opinions. Opinions differ from person to person. I'm sure that of the 3.5 (approx.) women in the world, some of them share the same interests as you.

Janis Joplin, Sandy Denny, Emmylou Harris, there's plenty out there if you look. I also think Sinead O'Connor is a strong songwriter, if you look past all the drama she likes to publicise she's extremely talented. Her latest album is something I listen to regularly.

I know there are loads of really talented female musicians, Sinead included. I'm a big fan of women like L7, Marlene Shaw, Kim Deal, Grace Slick, etc. But even at that, there's still a big disparity between the genders when it comes to music.

There is such a thing as bad taste. It is hard to define but most of us know it when we see/hear it.
