US Working Visa

I am looking for some information and wondering if someone on here could help.

A colleague of mine is American and has been living/working over here for a number of years. He is moving home soon and currently in the process of buying into a business.

He wants me to come over and work for him. By his own admission, he is not up to speed with the process of what Visa I would need to apply for/get to work for him legally in the US. He has asked me to research this for him.

    Can anyone advise?

Short of you having a very specialized set of skills that can not be gotten in the US it's not going to happen basically.

I would still imagine it is worth making an application. Can anyone advise of the process?

It's next to impossible..the US company has to prove they can't get a US citizen to fill the role. It also costs the company in the region of $5,000, and finally work visas are only granted at specific times of the year. A Chinese friend had a chance of an awesome job in NY in May but next window for visa issue was October so he missed out.
