Car tax question

Hi guys I bought a car about two weeks ago. The tax has being up on it for the past 4 months. Obviously I can't tax it till I get the log book back, which I haven't got back yet. I'm just wondering will I have two pay for it to be taxed back for the previous 4 months?? And if I get stopped in the mean time by the Guards…

No, you pay tax from the day you purchase the car

Possibly they could, if you have a receipt of purchase that might suffice or it might not

You pay from the beginning of the month that ownership transfers to you.
