Have you parred all the holes in your course this year?

So this is prob more relevant to higher handicappers than lower handicappers but was thinking about this the last few days so decided to go back through my stats.

I personally have parred every hole bar the 7th(Index 8) and 18th(Index 3) which are both par 4's. Think the reason for this is as follows:

7th: Not a long hole but your approach shot to the green normally needs to be left of the green or short of the green as the green slopes severely to the right where there is OB. Treacherous green for putting.

18th: Long Par 4 finishing hole with OB left off the tee along with Water all along the left of the green swallowing up any wayward approach shots. Normally don't want to hit a shot to reach the water as I have 2 shots so bogey is a great score.

I would be interested in hearing others stories about holes they haven't parred on their home course this year and why not!

I have parred every hole. Have birdied 12 of the 18 too. I have somehow failed to birdie the index 17 though even though I am always putting for birdie.

According to howdidido Over my past 5 rounds I've parred all 18 holes. Although I had 14 pars in one of them rounds

HC 20 , Have parred 16 of 18 holes this year , but only played my home course in 12 "proper" competitions.

I'm yet to par the 11th (index 1) or the 18th in counting competitions this year in Ballykisteen. Have parred the 11th a number of times in the spring league and the 18th in casual rounds a number of times.

    Handicap 22
Parred 17 of 18 holes this year with the par 5 562 yard, 5th with a very tricky green the only one I've yet to par.

I was only thinking about this yesterday while I was fiddling about on HowDidIDo - I haven't managed to par the ninth hole (397-yard par-four) in competition at my home club, Grange Castle, all year. But I'm averaging 5.2 on the hole which isn't too bad considering. I three-putted it from the fringe on Wednesday and missed an 18-inch tap-in there 2/3 weeks ago while standing on one foot trying not to stand in a playing partner's line... but other than that - can't seem to par the bloody thing yet never seem to have a disaster there either...

Handicap 16, according to how did i do I have parred every hole on the course except the 18th, index 4, but easily the toughest hole on our course. I have definitely parred it though this year...

    Good question by the way!

All bar one, birdied 12 of the 18 also, no eagles in last 8 years (anywhere)

Fairly sure I have parred them all. Although cannot remember the last time I parred the 18th in competition.

Birdied every hole, but have only eagled 4 of the 5 par 5's, so still abit of work to do.

Don't let Greebo see this thread :D

At least tell us you were trying to bogey them and accidentally parred them !! :pac:

    Parred them all.
Only Birdied 8 of the 18.
    4 on front I haven't Birdied.
    6 on the Back 9!
Only one measly Eagle all year.
8-13 is a dreadful stretch for me where I'm averagig 1.2 over Par for each of the 6 holes.

Take my best score on each hole and I've shot a 62 :) - Out in 29, Back in 33.

God I'm useless out the Back 9!

    HC 18
    I've bogeyed all 18 ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭spacecoyote

Last 6 months on my home course:

    Birdies: 8 holes
    Pars: all 18 holes

Gives me a round of best scores of 64 for the last 6 months :)

Over all rounds ever played there combining my best score on each hole gives me a score of 57 :D

On my course (Skerries) this summer:

I have parred all of the holes

    However, have only birdied 5 holes - (2, 5, 9, 10, & 11)

Still, I've really enjoyed the season. Nice and sunny and dry. :)

I've eagled all the holes in my home course...
It's not so hard when you can drive the par 4's and drive flick of a wedge the par 5's.

I drive it 330 you see....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,185 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

im not a birdie machine due to bad putting.
    But have pared all
    birdie and eagled one.
    birdied 1,2,4,5,6,8,9,10,12,13,14,15,16

But i think this is a function of time and quantity

no real indication of ability .

in competition I've birdied 12 of them, parred the other 6. 18 handicapper.

    well done.

I think that anybody will par all them in time.

An 18 handicap golfer will par or birdie any hole.

    Right on!
If you have parred all 18 and only played 2 rounds you're a shark. If you've played 45 rounds and parred all 18 you could still be off 26.

This pic shows my best and worst makes hard reading on the right column :-( still ok ish for 24 h/c I guess it just means I've been playing to my h/c

Interesting that I've birdied par 3's I'd routinely play the par 3's in level gross obviously it's a strength in my game.

What are the carry distances on the Par 3's? That's a mad stat for a 24HC player. Impressive tho.

    It's Strandhill, guessing here but
    2nd 160
    9th 130
    14th 165
    17th 190
    Yards

Member of a club called Merchants of Edinburgh, relatively short but the par4 4th has got into my brain as a difficult hole. Tend to always head right OOB or if i don't I miss the green which falls away sharply to the right and back, look at a bogey as decent score on it.
Shorter par 4 15th, i never land on, always short or long, head wrecking!

Swiftly put this straight by parring the 18th in the comp yesterday with a nice 2putt almost sunk a 25 foot birdie putt.

What did you hit to the green? That's a tough slog of a last hole.

It was into a slight wind. Hit 1 of my best drives of the day had about 130ish metres left just in the right hand side rough. Hit a 7i pin high.

Mullingar - all except for the 10th.

In my third year at the club and I haven't made par on it off the blues since I started  (and only 3/4 times off the whites)

(474 off the blues and 458 off the whites probably has something to do with that!)

    That's a monster Par 4 alright!
One of the par 5's on my home course is 479

I thought we were bad with a 451 Yard Par 4 (Blues).
It's our Index 1, always seems to be into the wind and it's our 1st Hole which is a pain... as more often than not, it results in an early kick in the nuts.

Our index 1 is the 7th, 454 par 4, usually into the wind - it's another fecker of a hole :pac:

I'm not sure I'd be able to cope if either was the 1st though

It's a pain of a 1st hole alright, especially if you walk onto the course cold. I think the 4th & 16th are tougher holes generally though.

I've found that on days you play the back 9 first it never plays as tough as you're properly warmed up.

Took me about 2 years to par it in a competition. That & the 9th for some reason were my real bogey holes for the 1st 2 years that I was a member

Strange that, the 9th would be one of my better ones.
Having said that, the 6th is a hole that I struggle on and it couldn't be more straightforward.

I'm definitely improving on the 1st of late, but it's a hard one to hit the ground running on.

Parred the 18th today and my 4th on the 11th was heading straight into the hole and turned away at the last second to leave me 3 feet from the hole. So I've still got to par the 11th in a singles competition.
