    And about time too

Sick of the farmers traversing the country breaking the law with no registration numbers on their trailers and trailers unworthy of being on the road, bald tyres, broken lights etc, accidents waiting to happen

It's the first time in my life to see a farmer being stopped for lack of registration plates and hope to see more of it

    Well done Garda!

That farmer just made his number plates disappear.

Sure last week, he turned a cow into a field!

    Ya think? You're wrong.

This is a scourge by farmers, a lot of them are breaking the law and nothing has been done about it, the country is almost bankrupt, here's a way to recoup some money, by activating the law and fining them, just like I'd get fined if drove around the country without reg numbers. Simples

Our neighbour bought a car in November 1989 and it " for reg " until January

You could do it if you wanted to wait a few months and get next years number

    Anyone remember for reg? :D

This means - lacking a number plate right?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭mikemac1

    Ah you're a young un

You have no registration plate and you don't intend to do it for a few months so you stick on a sign for reg

    Good times :)

If you use your eyes you can see the state they're in. If you're not blind like.

Use my eyes where? Where are you seeing the unroadworthy trailers? And you say they're 'traversing the country'? Are they livestock trailers, turf trailers, bale trailers? Why don't you report them if you have a genuine concern? No not blind thankfully. Great sense of smell too, especially for bullshiit.

Your post is full of it.

Report them. Ha ha ha ha. your having a laugh right. Didn't you read my post at all? The Gardai turn a blind eye except for this one today. Well done Garda for setting the example

So you have reported a unroadworthy trailer before have you? And know for a fact that the Gardaí turned a blind eye to this? Did you go further with it?

I wish the Gardai / litter wardens would start doing them for littering. Place is fecking ruined with straw... Not the end of the world obviously, but people give up a lot of time into keeping the village where I live clean and tidy, only for some gobshite to drive up through it with bales hanging off the sides of their trailers.

No chance of us winning in the Tidy Towns this year :pac:

how can they be reported with no number plate

Sure most farmers son's are Guards and most Guards son's are GAA men so you can't expect them to fine there own can you!

Sure what harm has, on a dark winter eve pulling a trailer with no lights and 3 inches of cow ****e on a road full of motorbikes ever done to anyone!

Can you honestly say you have never driven behind a car (often a young 4x4) pulling a trailor which has inoperative lights? Really?
Try this. the very next time you drive behind one check for brake lights and indicators. Odds are it wont have any.

You cam judge tyre dept accurately by driving behind a trailer? Really?

Ah come off it. Yes I've driven behind a trailer with no lights. Not that often though. Might not be farmers though. Could be a man transporting a lawnmower for example.

Lights and reg were also included in this part of the discussion and you can spot a bald tyre on a stationary vehicle so 'Yes":)

Not if its a trailor full of turf, cows, sheep or horses. they tend to damage the lawn mower.

    You can see into trailers..............

More in their line to fine the people who come out of fast food outlets and intentionally throw litter around the place, I would have thought that would be more of an issue for you than a bit of straw here and there.

This seems to be another anti farming post. For fecks sake there are a lot more people driving around the roads of this country in cars/vans without proper registration plates, tax and even possibly insurance. When it comes down to
I reckon that the farmer OP saw pulled over by the Garda at least had insurance.
Insurance companies do not need registration plates to insure a tractor - engine/chassis number will suffice.

But it was a farmer the Op observed thus the thread is about farmers. Perhaps someone will observe something you would like to see a thread about any day now!

Oh hang about! "Another anti farmer post" What other ones (plural) are there?

what about the farmers dragging inches of muck for hundereds of yards up and down the roads and all the cow sh1te all over the roads outside their yards with the acid from it destroying the surface, anybody who defends this really should not be driving

IT IS POSSIBLE TO SEE INTO MOST TRAILERS AND SO ONE CAN ASCERTAIN WHAT IT IS CARRYING. THEREFORE ONE CAN SEE IF IT IS A LAWN MOWER OR SOMETHING OF AN AGRICULTURAL NATURE .

you gave a preemptive dig at those who defend it. but that wont put me off.
