Petitions

I used to hear the word 'petition' and think of people fighting for a just cause but nowadays it can be for any old ****. Stuff that will never be taken serious or have a hope of making a difference, usually created by some over zealous fan or an angry anti-fan.

What are the stupidest and most pointless petitions you've heard of?

I was a bit embarrassed by the one to try to force a replay between Ireland and France for the 2010 World Cup. Did they really think it was going to happen?

Piers 'the Idiot' Morgan to be deported from America. I think this one got enough signatures for the White House to have to deal with it. Obviously they dismissed it.

Batman to be recast after Ben Affleck was announced to play him. Think there was one for Heath Ledger not to be cast as the Joker too and look how that turned out...

I liked the petition to build a Death Star and the response from the US government

The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.

The Administration does not support blowing up planets.

Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

:D Is that a genuine response?

Pity they gave up - this would surely bust USA economy for next few decades ;-)

I'd support a petition to get rid of the new Guinness glasses.

Whoever thought they were a good idea needs shot with lumps of their own dung.

There are people out there who think DRM is a good thing?

I suppose the Kony 2012 campaign was a sort of petition. Or "raising awareness". I understand people sharing FB status updates about missing people, but were people sharing Kony awareness so that someone could call the guards if they saw him working the colognes in the jacks of a pub in Limerick?

Does anyone who shared it even recall or care where he is?
