Hi All....I know a number of Dylan songs (Times a changing / blowing in the wind etc) but recently heard the Boots of Spanish Leather for the 1st time and just realised how much of his stuff I don't know!

So... am asking Boardsies to recommend me a Dylan Track that I can 'get into' as I would like to get to know his stuff a but better/more.

Step 1 - buy 'blood on the tracks'

Step 2 - listen on repeat.

    Mission accomplished

Look up "all that she wants, is. another. baby". Just proves that the originals are nearly always the best.

Well done to all the above.... but seem to be 'well-known' / 'Hit' songs.

Was looking at more 'non-hit' stuff.

Just remembered a song 'Sarah' from my youth that I haven't heard in 20++ years. Must U-Tube it!

Like most women I try to get into I usualy start by buying them a drink or taking them out for dinner, maybe you should try that

Buy him dinner, somewhere nice but not too ostentatious.

Some dancing, a few drinks... And who knows?

Ah right. You need 'She was a hipster, before it was cool' then. Great toon.

Rohypnol and Viagra should do the trick, however getting ole Bob on his own might be the tricky part. :p

Check out The Bootleg Tapes from his early days, Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie is a genius track.

My two aren't Dylan songs...they're often confused for him...I felt bad for lying to you for a cheap laugh :'(

I like 'Everybody Must Get Stoned' but I think it has a different title??

"Not Dark Yet" is a great one, new enough but I don't know if it's a well known one. In my own bubble here =D

Have a listen to his Bringing It All Back Home album. If you like that then I'd suggest Highway 61 Revisited or Blood On The Tracks.

If you want some individual songs then I'd suggest Simple Twist Of Fate, It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) and It Ain't Me Babe.

I've given Dylan a good try but I just can't do it (same applies to Cohen btw).

On the plus side, the search yielded these guys...

have to agree here... Blood on the Tracks is my favorite. It is one of those albums you could listen to back-to-back twice.

I saw him in the Point on 14th Sept 2000, it wasn't great. He suits a more intimate gig.. his backing band were excellent though.

I had a similar epiphany a few months ago, where I realised that I've only listened to the Greatest Hits really, and that there's a huge back-catalogue to catch up on. So I acquired his full discography, and started listening from the first album onwards.

After a few albums I began to appreciate the whole controversy about "when Dylan went electric" - I loved the earlier, folkier albums, but really didn't dig the rest of them! Lost interest after a while.

And any of the more recent stuff that he has done seems to be garbage.

Although I was in a coffee shop the other day and heard some song which I think was just played with piano accompaniment. Should have asked what it was, cos it was nice.

Its only a short song... but you have to be impressed with the number of 60's/70's musicians on stage at the same time.
