Ok maybe someone can help, looking at jumping in the deep end and setting up a gaming machine with 3 screen eyefinity display. Might never happen but hopeful :)

    1. What is your budget? [€1600] Not sure if this will be enough..so might be able to push a bit higher.

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming (Rome total war 2, Generals 2 etc.)

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? Three :)

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Speakers <- yes to all

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? maybe..ideally no

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]

    9. When are you purchasing? next 2 months

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Ratoath, Meath

I'd avoid triple monitor displays and go for a single 27" 1440p monitor myself. You are asking a lot for the budget and the end result imo isn't all that great. Have a look at this build I threw up for someone else. Maybe it would interest you as well.

Another option for widescreen gaming (since you are keen on eyefinity...) is a 29" ultra wide monitor.

Comparison of a 29" vs 27" in display area
    http://www.displaywars.com/29-inch-21x9-vs-27-inch-16x10

The 29" is 3 inches shorter is height but is 4 inches wider.

The downside to a 29" is not all games support it's native resolution of 2560x1080, most modern games I have tested do though (BF3, dishonored, Borderlands 2, X-Com Enemy Unknown, Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, Metro Last Light, Civ 5)

A few games do not however (Witcher 2 & Splinter Cell Black list), in cases such as these you run the game in 1920x1080 and have two vertical black bands on either side of the screen, reducing your view down to a 23" monitor.

I agree with the lads I'm afraid, even if you get 3 modest monitors your down 400 euros at least, squeezing the 2 decent graphics cards, CPU etc would result in quite a compromise.

You list some RTS games too, I'm not sure how great they would be for a mutliscreen setup, having to spin your head a lot to see the minimap could be an awful pain, and the ui will be split across the screens.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of multi gpu setups, you suck down more power, create more heat, and some games have issues with them on release. FPS's tend to be the prime multi-screen, multi-gpu things, not too sure about RTS's.

I think your money would be better served with a good CPU (a good deal of Online games in the ilk of Generals are CPU dependent), good single GPU and one nice big monitor, it will run faster, have higher graphical quality and will be less prone to issues.

Thanks guys, I've been debating it back and forth in my own head, but I think I'll take on board your words of wisdom and rethink my plans. Thanks for the help and suggestions. I'll be back :)
