Just made up my own weight training program consisting of free weights (dumbells) and machines but I'm not sure how many reps and sets should I be doing tho?

3 sets of 8-12 reps would be the norm but depends on goals (weather size, strength or bit of both)

Probably better off using an established program, plenty of which can be found online rather than making one up.

The ones that help you reach your goal. Which you have not stated . So im guessing 3x5.

If you're not sure what set/rep ranges to use. What gives you the confidence to write up a program.
It's not as easy as picking the exercises you like.

Suppose ye are right. I'd be better off getting an instructor in my gym to make me up one. At least then I'd be confident I'd be get the right work out to achieve my goal

Good call. No matter how much you think you know, you don't realise how much you didn't know until you've spoken with a good instructor.
