    @Mods - I am not trolling in any way.

    I have lived in Athlone, I have lived in Galway, I have lived in Dublin, I have spent a vast amount of time in Wexford and I have traveled the rest of the country a good deal. so with that in mind I feel I am in a good position to give an honest impartial opinion on Cork.

    I am currently on holiday in the Blarney area and have been on holiday in other parts of Cork 6 or 7 times in the past. While much of the country side is indeed beautiful and the food is very good for the most part I have found very few other redeeming features. The city center is over run with junkies, alcos and general scumbags. Much more so than Dublin as far as I can see. Dont get me wrong, Dublin has a lot more undesirables but I honestly dont feel they are as prevalent in the city center as the ones in Cork.

    Parking cost €10.50 for 2hrs 8mins:eek::eek:

    The standard of driving is well below the nations average in my experience. Driving on the wrong side of the road, driving 30 to 40kph below the posted speed limit.

    The accent is the dirtiest most horrible accent in Ireland second only to the Louth accent and the scumbag Dublin accent.

    And, with the exception of the foreign nationals, the customer service from the locals is non existent.

    You hear all the time Corkoians banging on about how its the real capital but I honestly believe if it was such and the majority of foreigners holidaying here aimed for Cork as their base we would never see them back again. Galway or Wexford would be better choices as captials tbh.

    I am not trolling or trying to get a rise. I have few things to say about other parts of Ireland but as I am in Cork as I type I'll start here.

    @mods - please dont move this to Cork forum as I'll just get unfairly bashed:rolleyes:

    After living in both Cork and Dublin for years, there's about 1000x as many scumbags and junkies in Dublin, per capita let alone overall. Mind you, Cork's still a bit of a boring hole, but if your judgement's based on those parameters then you're way off man.

    More junkies than Dublin ?

    Unless you spent your day visiting backstreet alleys to make an assessment of the city, anyone with two eyes and a fully functioning brain can see there is more junkies/scum in Dublin city centre by a long shot.

    did you by any chance once go out with a corkman and caught him riding a foreign national in an expensive car park?

    totally agree

    my point was they seem to gravitate to the city center. the little park on grand parade by the gloria jeans coffee as an example. We walked in and out just as quick

    "dirtiest" accent?

    You strike me as a reasonable, fair-minded person. I'd hate for this thread to be moved to the Cork forum where people might be "unfair" to you.

    So it's NOT the dirtiest most horrible accent in Ireland. And its not second worst either. Can't be too bad so
