As a Corkman even I am appalled and sick.

Key should be thrown away. I would not let him watch it on the telly inside.

To think people will miss this (or any other big sporting event) due to work commitments or whatever and then here's our justice system accommodating a criminal to see the fecking game.

    That's absolutely ridiculous. Jesus Christ.

Blame the judge not the criminal.

In fairness, would be hard for Cork to compete if their 'keeper is locked up.

His barrister, Niamh Ó Donnabháin BL, told the court that he wished to travel to the All-Ireland hurling final in Dublin on Sunday and was requesting that his curfew be lifted on Saturday and Sunday nights
Sounds more like a convenient excuse to prevent the curfew interfering with his social life. The All Ireland final is a one off game, not a weekly occurrence.

Also he was arrested in February, I very much doubt he already had his ticket bought.
If he can afford to go to the All Ireland, he could have afforded a much larger bond than €100.

But there we go, don't let criminal charges get in the way of the poor craythurs having a good time.

Legally speaking, he is innocent until proven guilty. Having bail terms temporarily adjusted is not an uncommon occurence.

I'm explaining it, not justifying it.

From article - They were also charged with the unlawful possession of a semi-automatic pistol, a revolver and ammunition at Deanrock Avenue, Togher on the same date
    Innocent???? maybe technically

Also is anyone allowed to change bail conditions to watch a game?

Why? The man retains the presumption of innocence. Or do you think anyone accused of a crime should be locked up or have the liberties you take for granted removed on nothing more than the say of AGS. All I will say is remember Donegal.

Sure during the euros an 'alleged' drug dealer was allowed to go to poland while on bail

    woah there, high horses!

he's been charged, not convicted. different kettle o fish. and even if he beats the charges on a technicality, hes legally not a criminal - regardless of popular opinion.

edit - other people quicker at typing than me.

Yes anyone can change bail terms for any reasone they want, it's upto the court to decide if it will or not. Judges for some silly reason like the idea of innocent till proven guilty.

I didnt say he was guilty, I said he is innocent technically. That is, in the eyes of the law. You can change bail terms or any reason you want?? I find that hard to believe

Is this a big deal? The guy has not been proven guilty of any charge and wants to make a 2-day change to his bail conditions. I don't see why people are so outraged.

He is not innocent on a tecnacility he currently innocent full stop, untill he is found guilty or found not guilty if the second then his status does not change. Read my post again I said anyone can ask for bail terms to be changed for any reason, it's up to the court to agree or disagree. That's not the same as saying as saying you can change bail terms for any reason you want only thàt you can ask.

I didnt say on a "technicality", I said "technically" he is innocent in the eyes of the law, not in the eyes of everyday people. its just an opinion. What I meant by the bail terms comment was, I wonder how many people would be granted changes in bail-terms for sports events? Again, just opinion.

It's an opinion like that led to convictions for the Guilfoyle four and the Birmingham six. A sure the police caught them, the scientific results said they had explosive material they must be guilty. They are innocent if you think they are "technically innocent what I think you are saying is they are only innocent till they are found guilty which of course they are. It's only my opinion but your opinion is a direct attack on one of the most important safeguards of the criminal legal system. Only my opinion btw.

Someone on bail can apply to the court to have the conditions of their bail changed, usually it's for family reasons e.g. funeral, baby being born etc. but any kind of exceptional circumstances can be taken into consideration.

This is true, it just "looks" bad being caught with firearms. But we are just talking about public image here, I doubt it will effect his trial specifically.

Why did he need to change his bail conditions? He is allowed out between the hours of 7am and 12pm. Surely that's enough time to get to Dublin, see the match and get back? Fair enough he would miss his daily sign on and would have to ok that but why does he need the saturday night free as well?

Good job that he - like 90% of GAA supporters - probably doesn't realize there's actually other games outside the championship or he'd be trying to bend bail to attend them as well.
