Well lads I did not shoot the first day but that afternoon I took a walk down the river banks of the Shannon near Mungret, I was walking the bank, cover was high in places so not a great view of river,or of me on the bank, next minute I heard a boat engine in the creek near me then a volley volley of shots, I ran to a gap in the reeds to see a white speed boat/cruiser with about 4-5 guys up on the bow with guns driving in out of the creek at speed engine running putting up the ducks/flappers an rattling away at them:mad:, I then watched them go further down the Shannon from a different view point and watch them Drive into a creek, put up the ducks and blast away, wildfowlers/sportsmen my Bollocks:mad: Could not get a proper video clip as sun in my eyes. They are local I believe.

Annoys me when there's lads doing this.
Probably only hang around for the first week of the system.
Plug everything in sight and then piss and moan about there being no duck around for the rest of the year.
Honestly I'd take two duck a day if I got out. Anymore than that is being totally greedy and its the same blokes who moan about poachers.

These lads will disappear end of week so you'll get something mate....... And in peace aswell. No motors flying about wreaking havoc

Not too many places to launch or moor a boat like that on that part of the river without been observed.

It's the same here in Galway, the Corrib is ruined from people using boats. It's just slaughter, not sport.

It is illegal as well If I remember correctly, anyway a few of us out for a shot this evening and one of the lads shot a pair of widgeon, kind of early for them I would have thought.

Nearly sure it is. From a motorised vehicle under power, ie running at the time. Maybe a mod knows!!

    Spot on.
Can't understand lads going out and shooting 20 duck in a day.
And then go out 5 days later and do the same again.
Season will be over a hell of alot sooner than they think.
And then let's moan that the foxes or mink are killing everything.
2 duck a day and like yourself I'd be quite happy with that.

I don't have the exact legislation to hand but it's definitely illegal to use a mechanically propelled vehicle to hunt animals.

Yes it is illegal to have an engine running when hunting
