I am starting part time work start next week and i will be looking at hopefully 20 hours a week. Am i right in saying i should tell them i can only work 3 days a week in order to go on x and o's? Also i will be working a week in hand so should i go to the social next week or the week after?

Your right, ask your employer if they can keep your days of work to no more than 3 days a week and explain if it goes to 4days you would be worse off financially, also let them see your willing to a full week now and then if required.

As regards your 2nd question I would definitely let social know before you start your first day of work. If you could get a note from your employer stating your start date and showing how you will be paid it might be no harm to show this to social.

Ye i am just worried if i tell them then i will have to re open a claim and get no money next week and i have to work a week in hand.

On the hours it would only be part time. The likes of coming up to Christmas i would probably be working more than 3 days a week. If i end up working four days would it be out of order to ask the employer to say i worked those hours in three days i just have no clue about x and o's.

I have been asked to come in tomorrow for 4 hours for some training. He said he will pay me for this next week. Should i go down to the social tomorrow after work and tell them i want to go on x and o's. I am not starting until next week and he told me i can start Tuesday and he will let me go to the welfare Monday to sort out the x and o's. My question is should i go down tomorrow to make my claim or will i wait until Monday. I am worried if i go down tomorrow than my payment might not be their next Monday over 4 hours pay this week. If anybody could help i have no idea how x and o's work.

If it was me I would do the 4hrs training and only when I have received my first payment from employer, only then would I immediately inform welfare of my change of circumstances.

Good luck btw hope it works out.

My main problem is i got a voice mail today for a CE scheme job i had an interview for months ago offering me the job. I have no interest in the job and this part time work is ideal for money coming up to Christmas. I am going to have to contact them tomorrow and inform them i am starting a part time job on Monday. I am worried they will contact the social welfare so that is why i want to go to them Monday. But in the job i have to work a week in hand so will get nothing next week and if i go on to x and o's next week i will probably get a reduced payment next week. Just have no clue how the system works. I should probably ask the citizens advice office tomorrow.

Just tell the CE people thanks for their offer but I have to turn it down as I'm hopeful of getting an offer of employment in an area that is more suitable to me.

    Your worrying too much.:)

Can anybody tell me as i have been told different story's. The man from the social welfare said i have to put in the hours for each day i work. My mother is on x and o's and said she only marks in the days she worked. It's not really a big deal but i started today and it runs from Wednesday to Tuesday. So today is the last day of the x and o week so i just handed in the slip stating i worked today and didn't put in the hours. So i am just worried incase i need to sort if out tomorrow or risk having no payment next week.
