Worst Punishment

One of my friends on Facebook has somewhat of a catchphrase when a news story breaks about evil people, usually child abusers. (The latest person he is venting about is Michael Lavell. I don't know a lot about the case other than at the moment he has not been proven guilty yet.) He says the abuser should be 'strung up by the balls and bet with a hurley'. This rarely happens as the courts often opt for jail time for them instead.

I find people a bit over the top with their suggestions for justice. Obviously a convicted paedophile is a sick person but if you would get satisfaction in seeing them tortured you're hardly right in the head yourself.

My question is, what should the worst punishment for a crime be?

I think that if a person has committed horrible acts against a fellow human it is unforgivable. They shouldn't be allowed back in society. The death penalty would get rid of the problem but it also means that somebody will have to kill them, which isn't ideal.

Life in prison would keep them out of the way but it shouldn't be just sitting in your cell all day. You should have to do work while you are there. And life in prison would mean that you actually spend the rest of your life there.

We live in a civilized society. If we subject criminals to this sort of inhumane punishment we are no better than they are.

Some of old methods are deprived, I like the old one where a person is tied sitting on a bucket of rats, and as the rats get hungry they then eat their way up through his hole.

I think they also had it in Game of Thrones, but the heating method means it's over too quick.

People who are pedophiles are sick people, but just imagine all the people suffering with the same affliction who don't act upon their urges...The ones who do should be locked away at the expense of their family or executed...but that's too extreme for the folks soft on crime...
