Old cottage with no cavity insulation

    hi,
I am living in an old cottage with cavity walls that have no insulation. It was built in the 1950's I think. The cavity is less than 4 inches.

Can I just put on insulated plasterboards on the inner leaf and not insulate the cavity? Will this case dampness in the house?

Is the cavity too narrow to pump with bonded beads and thus giving a path from outside rain, etc penetrating into the building? What is the minimum cavity width to allow pumping?

    Thanks

Most insulation companies can help you here - you need to know how wide that cavity is

Get a few to quote and review their thoughts on the right way to proceed

Just doing the internal leaf as suggested may well lead to condensation building up on the inside of the block wall behind the insulation which will lead to mould
