Looking to do a bit of upgrading to my system but I'm a wee bit out of the loop components-wise so I'm not sure where I should really begin.

I'll give you a brief overview

    CPU:Intel i5-760 Processor (8M Cache, 2.80 GHz)
    Mobo: MSi P55 GD65
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1 gb DDR5
    RAM: 4gb Xtreem

I'm gonna be replacing my case and a couple of other bits but of my main components are any of them worth replacing now?

Or are there any big changes coming to the market soon that are worth waiting for?

How much do you want to spend and what games are playing?

I won't be spending it all in one go. Would be happy to do about 100 a month for the next 6/7 months. I'm gonna be playing the Witcher 3. I do video editing but what I have is already grand. I just want to future proof myself for the next 2/3 years of releases or so.

have a read of that: the 760 once clocked up to around 5ghz is still a decent performer. Even @ stock it is still pretty good in games.

I would upgrade your graphics card first, AMD are allegedly releasing their next batch of cards in October/November time, it might be worth holding on until then to see how they compare to Nvidia if prices drop a little more on the current gen.

After that: upgrade to a better cooler and clock the nuts off you 760?

What OS are you on? if it is a 64bit OS popping in another 4 gig of ram would be a nice bump for editing/games.

Initial OCs with a Corsair H70 fitted were quite unstable and caused bluescreens so I just gave up on the whole OC thing.

Oh and I'm on Win-7 Ultimate 64 bit.
