Banning Sex Education

So it seems the supposedly "progressive" middle-Eastern state of Israel has ordered school book publishers to remove material relating to human reproduction and contraception.

This isn't even in special private schools (which I'd still have some problem with), it's in State-run schools with a religious ethos, not too unlike many schools in Ireland. Is this a infringement of a child's right to education or is it acceptable action in including only "texts and reading materials in the spirit of the state religious education system"?

I think it's one of the most ridiculous measures I've heard in a while, and a complete affront to the children's right to a proper education. Screw this "religious modesty" crap.

The ultra orthodox crowd are a weird bunch. Generally Jews are pretty open and liberal about sex, the Torrah is insistant that in jewish law a husband is obliged to sexually satisfy his wife when ever she asks...

Israel has just made a deal with Uganda to deport thousands of African asylum seekers, or infiltrators as they're officially referred, back to Uganda, so Uganda can purchase discount weapons from the Israelis.

So it's not even the worst thing they've done this week. The poor children don't even get the opportunity to snigger at the word vagina in class. That's surviving not living!

That's actually quite a big worry amongst the mainstream Jews. The orthodox Jews and Arabs in Israel are gaining dramatically in percentage of total population terms.

Fuck Israel (in general, but also on this specific issue,) we need better sex education here. We should be teaching kids not just the mechanics and the biology, but technique. I remember the first time I licked a beure out I hadnt a clue what I was at. And the first blow job I got left my lad feelin like I slammed it in a car door. A+ to the girl for effort but she had no idea what she was at an either no knowledge of/or respect for the banjo string.
This shit needs to be taught in school.

The Ultra Orthodox, certainly seem to have lot of power, out of proportion to there numbers, but if I remember correctly, they do hold the balance of power, so you will see governments pander to some of there issues.
