am driving a 06 e90 318i, just now the engine light came on (orange) the description in manual says engine does not have full power, safe to continue journey but with moderate speed, get too bmw service asap.

I think it could be ignition coil (s) ? would anybody on here know if this is the case would the issue be covered by the 2yr approved used bmw warranty that is on the car? thanks oh and any ideas what else it could be?
    thanks all.

The Check Engine Light, a.k.a. the Maintenance Indicator Lamp, means that the car's on-board diagnostics have identified a problem and the computer is operating the engine in a low-output mode in an effort to minimize damage. The potential causes of this are numerous. The first thing that needs to happen is that the stored fault codes, or DTCs, need to be read by a suitable scanner.

If that car is under warranty, then an illumination of the CEL should most certainly be covered by that warranty, yes.
