Is it worth waiting for Sky Fibre

I am with Sky BB and lucky enough to be one of the beta testers and don't pay line rental for the first year. Eircom called to my house today and offered me up to 50meg fibre. I rang Sky and they said it will be a month or maybe two before they are offering Fibre. I know Sky might tell me this today and I could see a full fibre launch in tomorrows papers as they keep their cards close to their chest.
My speed is very poor 1.28mb/s on a good day so you see why I want to change if its available. I have no intention going near Eircom as my provided based on previous experience and their dreadful customer service so I would choose another provider.
If I knew Sky would deliver fibre soon I would wait purely because of their excellent service and second to none customer service, but they told me 3 months ago it would be a month or two before they are suppling fibre. Today again they told me today me one or two months.
I am not sure if its worth waiting indefinitely for fibre when I can get it tomorrow from VF or another provider.
What do you think? will sky be providing the service soon?

Maybe maybe not...Sky are still haggling about providing eircom VDSL or just incompetent (my opinion)

Same boat here ... and frustrated by the lack of clarity.
Contract ends in Jan , so will probably jump ship then and ditch both TV and DSL

Sky are advertising unlimited BB for €20 a month until 2014. Claiming to save you €200 by switching from eircom. Not looking good for fibre if they are pushing this

Was speaking to Sky yesterday. I rang to cancel my account. I was told that the fibre is launching in April.

    Hope this helps.

    Yup thats the one alright.

Did not charge me anything to cancel. I am out of contract with them. In fairness to Sky I can not fault their service or products. Price is simply too high for TV service.

I may look at them again in 12 months and see what they can do for new customers.

Rang Sky and they confirmed it wont be until April 2014. They said I can't cancel my contract or buy it out.

=. They said I can't cancel my contract or buy it out.

That doesn't sound right ... looking at the T&C, it says that you will pay early termination charges ...

People I know have got their tv package at half price ringing sky with a view to cancelling.

Yeah they did make a nice offer for me to stay but I had already signed up to UPC and was outside the cooling off period by the time I called Sky to cancel.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but as you can probably tell still there's no Sky Fibre available. I wouldn't hold my breath for the end of the year let alone April!

2 days left in April... has anyone heard anything from Sky about an updated release date for Sky Fibre?

    I gave up too.
Went to Vodafone and my speed went from 1.3Mbps to 25Mbps.
I'm sorry I didn't move sooner, I was hanging around waiting on Sky as I liked the package I had and the customer service.
