When my sister moved into her (rented) house the sky box in the sitting room was still active she ordered sky with the intent of getting it installed in her room leaving downstairs TV for the WII, DVD player and the free to air channels for the kids
The sitting room sky box subscription ended this morning and there is no channels on it at all
    Any suggestions?

Take the sky card out & reboot the box. You should still be able to watch the free to air channels.

List of channels on Sky (UK & Ireland) - http://www.channelwiki.org/wiki/List_of_channels_on_Sky_(UK_%26_Ireland)

Under the column encryption/package see the list of channels listed as Free-to-air which should be available on a Sky box without a subscription.

Other channels not listed in the Sky programme guide can be added via "other channels", list of free-to-air channels at 28°E - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_free-to-air_channels_at_28%C2%B0E

The Irish channels aren't available on a Sky box without a subscription, Saorview TV/STB attached to an aerial would be required in conjunction with that Sky box.

Due to rights issues the Irish channels are encrypted on satellite and only available to Irish Sky subscribers. Without a Sky subscription a Saorview TV or STB and aerial is required.

She can contact Sky and order multiroom. They may want to install a new STB.
