Look back to where you started, are you happy?

I was scouting through some of the logs posted here where 'X' posted there top stats for certain exercises and what not. To a certain extent, I'm happy where I've come in my short time.

Then again, if I was totally happy, I'd get nowhere eh?

So, look back to when you started tracking your progress, are you happy with it? If you're not, then why? Why haven't/couldn't you do more to change it?

    Interesting thread…

On 12 January 2010 I started a now defunct fitness log, then my stats were:

    80kg
    DL: 125kg
    Squat: 117.5kg
    OHP: 42.5kg
    DB Bench: 30kg

Still at 80kg, approximately three years on my stats are:
    DL: 187.5kg
    Squat: 150kg
    OHP: Unknown
    BP: 105kg

Obviously my pull-ups, chins and dips would also be much stronger now.

Looking back, would I have been happy with where I am now 3 years ago? Absolutely. However, I could easily be stronger if I hadn't had various plateaus and interruptions along the way. For me, the demanding job coupled with the girlfriend has been the killer. By that I mean, I could have dealt with the long hours or with the girlfriend easily, but having both limits my free time massively. Diet could have been improved as well.

Looking at a log I started back in 2010 I've blasted past all of my goals. Currently very happy with where I am. Still goals are always going up but so are numbers. I'm changing focus for a few months and looking forward to the changes it will bring. And the pain. O GVT should be fun!

I'm overjoyed how far I've come in a relatively short period of consistent training (7 months). I think I'll need some competitive outlet in the medium term to keep it going however. I have oodles of respect for those on here and elsewhere who can train just to train for stretches of years or more.

I'm happy with the progress I have made in the last 18 months.

Sometimes I'm disappointed in the short term because holidays / nights out will stall my progress but in the long term I am still progressing nicely

started in November unable to get into a deep squat without severe pain. not touch my toes, nor press my back against a wall bend my elbows to 90 degrees and press the back of my hands flat against the wall. (think wall slides)
Still can do none of those things but I do feel better about it.

    Also 30kg squat 5x5
    20kg bench 5x5
    20kg row
    35kg DL 1x5
    15kg OHP 5x5
    are now
    100kg squat 5x5
    70kg bench 5x5
    75kg row 5x5
    110kg DL 1x5
40kg OHP 5x5 and Ive started assisted pull ups and dips.

I am please with my progress, no-one else can see a difference, but I am pleased.

I've spent the last 9 months trying to build back up muscl, it's been commented that I do look a bit bigger and more muscular in the arms and chest. The ironic thing is the least of my improvements has been on the bench and curling.

I can't remember my baseline lifts when I started but I remember thinking having a 20 on each end of the bar for squats would be deadly but it seemed a long way off. Now I'm near 1.5 BW squat. I've deadlifted 2 x BW for 4 reps and my bench has just reached the BW mark. I'm satisfied with where I'm at but plenty of room for improvement.

But most importantly, working out is no longer something I need to convince myself to do - I enjoy it.

I remember looking at a bar with 2 20kg plates on it and ****ting myself. I recall getting light headed and nearly keeling over after lifting 45kg x8.
i'll be putting 2 20kg plates on each side of my squat bar tonight. rawr.
