It all depends on how good the battery is.

I've started cars after months of being idle, how long are you thinking of leaving it?
Disconnecting the battery altogether will prolong it as you'd have things like the alarm drawing current. You'd want to be sure the car can unlock mechanically it at case. Also consider things like the handbrake locking up.

Can depend on weather conditions, I would say for a healthy battery that was fully charged, you could leave it for about 4 weeks during summer months.

true.. average then . how long ?

So how big is it, like how many cubits diameter? Is it quadrilateral shaped? Was it made in Western Caroline Island? How many ferrets do you use to recharge it? Is the date stamped by the Julian calendar?

Go to the car and find out
    • The AH of the battery
    • The CCA
    • How old it is

And if it's started for short journeys, hard starting etc then we can have a better guess at how long you could leave it ;)

My golden rule is that if I leave car for longer than a week, I unplug the battery beforehand.

Modern cars tend to drain more battery power when parked than older cars (f.e. 90's cars).
F.e. 2004 Mazda 6 which I had was taking about 20mA when stationary, doors locked, alarm on.
That gives electricity usage of about 0.5A per day, so brand new, fully charged, 100% healthy battery with 50Ah capacity, would be drained down to 0 in 100 days.
Considering most cars don't have brand new 100% healthy batteries, and some cars might drain more electricy than others, and there is also quite big demend for electricity when starting the engine needed, many cars might not be able to start even after week or two being parked.
