    Hi folks,

I need to replace a cartridge bearing in my headset. The headset is a 1 1/8 bbb turnaround. http://bbbcycling.com/bike-parts/headset-parts/BHP-02

The bbb site says a 36 deg angular contact bearing but I am unsure if this means 36x36 or 36x45.

I assume 36x36 as it only mentions one number.

    Any help appreciated.

    Ross

Didn't get any replies, so possible some lack of knowledge on the topic by most. I'll fill you in on my lessons.

On the side of the bearing, all the dimensions are printed. This had disappeared from mine as it had been rubbing so much. I checked the other bearing and found out it was 36x36.

I tried a few bike shops in town at lunch and it seemed like nobody stocks bearings. Finally Thinkbike pointed in me in the right direction. While they didn't have what I was looking for, the told me OC Tuning would and gave me the directions to them. I like knowledgeable shops like that, and that they were happy to recommend me go elsewhere.

Went to OC Tuning after work and straight in straight out. The guy reached into a drawer and I got exactly what I was after.

Anyway cartridge bearings are a better system than the older loose ball bearings but a hassle to track down new bearings. For anyone that requires bearings I'd try OC Tuning first.
