Hi just looking for some advice on something that's on my mind. I'm 16 and I'm currently looking to get a car for when I'm 17 in December. The question I have is do you need to have your 12 lessons done to drive or can you drive straight away after you pass your theory test? If you have anything to shine some light on this let me know. Cheers :)

After you pass the theory test you can apply for a learners permit. Once you have this you can drive provided you're accompanied by a person holding a full license for at least 2 years.

So you don't have to do 12 lessons first?

You need to do 12 lessons between getting your learners permit and applying/sitting the driving test to get your full licence (I think).

That's what I was thinking. I always knew 12 lessons were compulsory for sitting the driving test. Cheers for the advice :)

I can give you more if you like for example get lessons at all times of the day ie morning lunch times afternoon school time evenings and in all types of light ie bright dark getting dark rain (and even snow/ice if you can manage it).

I was told you need to sit your theory test and once that is passed you can apply for your learners permit. Then you must have 12 professional driving lessons before your able to sit your driving test.

The downside to the professional lessons is the cost. I hate that it was made a requirement.

That's why I was hoping I didn't have to do them.

that not bad actually. if that is for all 12 then €25 euro each is less than i paid for mine. I think I paid €30+ per lesson. I sat around 20 lessons though.

Yes that was for all of them. I thought it was reasonable compared to others that I priced plus he came recommended from other Boardsies

His. If you want to drive your own car you need your own policy in your own name.
