    Donegal reg alright

IZP 645 was the first reg issued in Donegal for 1978, so IZP 27 would be a late 1977 reg.

In themselves the I and 27 are meaningless, numbering sequence would probably have been HZP 998, HZP 999, IZP 1, IZP 2......IZP27 and so on

ZP was the initial designation for county Donegal. So the sequence started at AZP 1 up to AZP 999 and the went to BZP 1 and up to BZP 999 and so on.

I have a list of the first registrations allocated in each county in each particular year.

So in January 1978 the first reg issued happened to be IZP 645, which is only 618 vehicles away from your reg, so one could estimate your reg as a late 1977 registration

IH was also used in Donegal as well as ZP
