    first time seller here

    selling for small money...car has nct

    so i got the basics ...i post the registration cert myself and get full payment before parting with car

    anything else?


    do i need to inform my insurance co. before they drive off?

    do i need proof of ID and insurance from them?

    Just cancel your insurance afterwards yeah. They get to keep NCT and tax discs.
    You send the VRC/logbook yourself (they just sign and fill out address etc), correct.

    Once they sign and drive off it's their car, and their own responsibility to have insurance.
    You aren't obliged to verify they are who they claim they are.

    No matter how long the tax is out, the new owner owes tax from the first day of the month they bought the car. So if they bought the car tomorrow, they would still have to pay tax for the full month of August
