SUSI, drop out before I begin?

Hey guys, just wondering if anybody is in or has been in the same boat as me.
I filled out my SUSI online application form on the 20th May, then my documents were recieved by SUSI on the 10th of June followed by being "Provisionally Awarded pending receipt and review of course acceptance details from the CAO" on the 14th June.

I then had to send in a Final Course Acceptance form as I was accepted directly, not through the CAO so (according to online tracker) my documents were re-recieved on the 18th July.

Since the 18th of July I've heard nothing from SUSI & my tracker has been stuck on 'Document Schedule Recieved'. It's looking grim for me attending college as my fee's are due before the 9th of September. Ive only applied for the Student Contribution Fee, not the maintenance. Has anybody had similiar difficulties as me?

I'm in the same position. I think the colleges will understand if we're waiting for SUSI, I heard of a girl who didn't pay her registration til March this year. I am trying to organise childcare and travel as well so really need to know if I have a grant - not just for fees. I also applied in May and it's just ridiculous.

Everyone has the same difficulties with susi, you can explain to the college you are waiting on SUSI and they should be prepated to wait as well.

Some colleges allowed students up to about Christmas waiting on SUSI last year.

Tell the college you are waiting on SUSI and they should understand.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

My concern is that I can't apply for student assistance until the reg fee is paid and I can't pay for childcare/travel until I get student assistance... so Christmas ain't an option unfortunately. So, staying calm and crossing everything!

If finances are extremely tight before SUSI comes through you can always ask SVDP for money to tide you over for a month

If you read the susi threads from last year you will find people weren't paid in some cases till a few weeks ago... Anyway, do to fear... All colleges and unis have been through all this before, last year we were able to temporarily register in lieu of susi getting their act together.... I don't think anyone got any payments before the very earliest October, and you should contact the college you are going to if you are seriously worried.... I wouldn't be, everyone is in the same boat with susi.... I applied super early last year and don't think my reg fees were paid until November.... Contact susi, but if you are relying on being fully registered or of you are relyi g on the student assistance fund, I know in most colleges they do not issue any student assistance until at least the second month of college, and this was exceptional last year as susi fcucked up so badly.

They are great but can't cover fees, childcare and travel expenses. I am very grateful to be able to avail of grants but I do wish they were more organised.

Well you cant get your final letter until your college sends confirmation of your registration to susi

Thank you for the information about the letter from the college, I will ring DCU on Monday.

I know this is a bit late, but as one of the other users said all college will be ok if your waiting on susi. they will register you and have you on their system, as for the student assist funds i am the very same i have kids too, the first payment is the end of Oct.

So my advice continue as you are a full-time student the college will make exceptions with people having problems with susi.

My grant is still outstanding from last year, i am still waiting on appeal to come back due to evidence of independent residency. the college understands my case and are letting me continue till i get it sorted out.
