German Versus Chinese.. WHICH??

    Hi there,

I'm starting in Maynooth in a couple of weeks and looking at my course choices. At the moment the toss up seems to be between German or Chinese.

I've noticed straight away that there are approx 6/7 classes for the German module per week versus 4 for Chinese. (One of the German classes clashes with my compulsory subject).

Would it be reasonable to suggest that you'd therefore learn more German than you could Chinese?

I've no experience in either subject. Are you expected to have experience in either?

    Many thanks

Hi, which country & culture of the two interest you most?
There are lots of language learning apps and sites out there, and if you could 'have a go' at both languages and see which you have a better feel for.
Anyway, you can attend lectures for different subjects to 'try them out' for the first week or two iirc?
No you're not expected to have experience. When it comes to learning a new language an interest helps I think. I'll be starting a new language this term also (Spanish) and really looking forward to it.

Thank you for that and the best of luck with Spanish. I will be trying lots of different lectures for sure.
