Looking at 2 cars layer for my girlfriend , it's her 1st car looking at Peugeot 307 03 1.4, and VW Bora 02 1.4.
Need a bit of space cos of the baby and theses look ok cars with not a very high litre.
Anything I should look out for on these cars ?

307 is hit or miss, they can suffer from electrical problems, would not take the chance on a 10 year old one. 1.4 litre engine in the Bora is not a great engine, they can suffer from excessive oil consumption and gearboxes are a weak point.

A Mk1 Focus or newer shape Corolla would be a better bet imo

Learned to drive in a Mk1 Focus. Would definitely recommend :)

Neither of them are great choices. Astra 1.4 perhaps?

1.4 Focus is meant to be terrible.

Personally, I'd go for a 1.4 Corrolla VVTi, spacious and ultra-reliable engines with a bit of pep in them.

Its the best 4 door saloon/hatch with a 1.4 litre engine I can think of..

    Something like this

Focus has same power as 307 and Golf (75)

The 1.4 litre Focus is sluggish but if it is being used to ferry around a baby then that should not be a deal breaker.
