Is it possible to view foreign boards website. I came across some link online for boards sites in Oz, NZ, Canada, China ect and would love to have a look at their sites if possible as I find boards.ie really captures the Irish psychic, so want to see what the other ones are like.

found www.boards.org.uk but it just jumps back to boards.ie

    anyone know the links?

The foreign sites were amongst the various things which vanished after Daft took over (the wiki, the blogs site, etc being others)

I'm not aware of any other country of this size that has one massive catch-all forums.

They're other forums on the internet too. They don't all have to be boards. ;)

They went offline after the hack in 2010 and never returned.

Daft didn't really take over Boards per se. They all exist under the umbrella of Distilled Media.

But yeah, the foreign versions were taken offline a while back, mostly because none of them were really proving successful as far as I'm aware. Think a lot of posters were cross-posting between the various domains.

They didn't seem to take off. Maybe Boards particular general discussion model only works here? Well we do like to natter. :D I do remember when boards servers would tank and all the posters would run to the UK or US boards. Those who only know boards since distilled media got involved won't remember how often the Boards servers would crap out. That pretty much went away overnight after DM

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

What was that twitter-like service that people would jump on too? I remember it being quite hilarious.

I don't think slow is the word you're looking for.

Thank you. Wasn't that taken down shortly before Distilled Media came along, because someone pretended to be another poster and said some horrible things. Could have gotten that wrong.

I would love if a proper moderated boards.us took off.

At the moment there is citydata which isn't bad but suffers from the "No your a ******" Youtube syndrome.

But i guess 300 million is just too big to get the boards.ie cosy sense of community.

Boards.us changed its name, I think it is called read it or something...
