The recession never had any bearing on whether I went to a gig or not. If I loved the band/artist and wanted to see them, I'd go

    Fleetwood Mac - 2 dates

A lot of the bands above may have done Oxegen had it not been a top 40/dance festival this year and may not have had stand alone gigs instead ?

Also Pixies, Fleetwood Mac, The National and QOTSA, and probably Depeche Mode and Manic Street Preachers would always sell out regardless of the economy.
The rest are popular right now. No mystery, just a lot of good gigs coming up.

I'd imagine Haim should sell out tomorrow too.

General prices have come down since 06/07. New average, band of the moment bands like Razor****e used to be €45 then, but would be more like €30 now I'd say.
Still a lot not selling out too. Suede, Soundgarden, Sigur Ros to name a few

The 2 gigs from The Staves have sold out, as has Laura Marling.

The Olympia last week had about 5 gigs on, at least 4 of them were sell outs too.

Haim can be added to the list after selling out in 5 minutes.

Can understand that, it was a steal at €17.50

It was well after 10.05 when I got a ticket.

Nearer 10.10 or 10.12. I had to try three or four times.

Just ticketmaster being its usual self.

Recession is more an issue when people need to take loans to buy things. Like holidays, computers, cars, houses etc because they are taking a gamble their sources of income will still be available in six months to 35 years. Depending what they work at and how that company is doing they might not feel confident doing it.

Usually gig tickets is going to fall into someones monthly entertainment budget so as long as people have an income and some disposable change they usually find a way of making them happen (especially since they've no holidays, new computers, cars, houses to look forward to).

Having said that the overall number of gigs is still way down. Especially low to mid interest tier stuff. The stuff that sold out listed are very very small gigs or very established acts as someone else mentioned. EP sold out because there was no Oxegen (look there wasn't ok?) and the tickets were cheap.

Mark Lanegan at the sugar club - both nights sold out (not surprising though, it's a tiny venue)

MGMT standing tickets are definitely gone in the Olympia

Although after seeing their new single live on Letterman during the week I might flog my two tickets!

I have seen them 3 times. Once at EP, twice in the acadamy.

Every time I regret going to see them, seriously, I'd flog them.

Le Galaxie - Custom House Square (next weekend)

Not sure how big that venue is though but still impressive considering they've played about a million gigs this year so far.

They did say some production tickets would be made available next week for anyone who wants to go but still hasn't bought tickets.
