We got a Mini-Pillar there recent to supply a bus garage, Just as we had a look inside it we noticed both the doors were earthed to the frame 10mm². But there was no electrical connection from the Earth-Bar to the frame (Tested with meter). The Earth Bar is sitting on those Dumpy Insulators, We take this as wrong and Earthed it correctly, should we notify the panel builder also?

It will be housing the E.S.B meters.

An earth-bar is also to be fitted inside the location with a disconnection link, I take it this is to disconnect the Earth bar's only for testing reasons or whats the norm?

    Cheers.

are you talking about a panelboard that you are mounting indoors?

i would just ring the supplier first with the query?

It's the out-door Mini-Pillar, It should have been Earthed, It would have been mad not to Earth the frame of the unit if a fault occurred. We tested another job with the same type unit and contacted the manufacturer,, lol I must have sounded like a right fool asking if the panel should have been earthed, you would think the manufacturer are spot on with testing and the like.

It's not the first mistake by the same company, they made a hash of the emergency lighting too in the main panel, by allowing 400 volts at all the light fittings. The emergency feed for the lighting circuits was not of the same phase as the Live, Had to spend the whole day correcting all those...

Thanks for the pdf there Frank, that solved another problem ha.

Asked the Engineer about the Earth-Bar with the disconnection link, He is not sure himself it's one of those jobs.

Page 45 here seems to indicate you should earth the pillar itself.
