    Hello all im looking to upgrade my cpu and (if i have to) mobo aswell. The price im looking for is ~ €250 if not less. I can also stretch it a bit if its a worthwile upgrade to around 350€ but dont really want to spend that much now. My current specs are;

    Phenom II 965BE Stock
Gigabyte 970a-D3 AM3+ mobo with latest BIOS Update
    8gb DDR3
    GTX 670 OC
    2TB HDD
    750w OCZ PSU

Ive been looking at the FX6300 for a cheap upgrade but not sure if its worth it from reading reviews. What do you guys think? I dont mind Intel or AMD aslong as its an actual Upgrade.

    Thanks!

I'd get an fx 6300, a decent cooler like the cm 212 evo and some vrm heatsinks for your board.

Overclock it to 4.5ghz+ and it should be a very nice upgrade from what you have.

Maybe throw an ssd in there if you haven't got one yet.

Hey thanks for the reply. Havent overclocked before so wouldnt know where to start. Do you think the fx 6300 is a worthy upgrade at stock levels?

Not as much but it would still be a good upgrade. It wouldn't be hard to overclock it though.

You could go for an fx 6350 either if you don't fancy overclocking.

Yeah i was looking at the fx6350 but my mb doesnt support it.. Should have got the UD3 instead of d3.. Should i just wait til next year and get a steamroller cpu and new mobo? Or any intels that arent too expensive

You could go for an i5 then instead.

    Item|Price
    Intel Core i5-4570 Box, LGA1150|€173.87
MSI B85-G41 PC Mate, ATX, Sockel 1150|€66.45
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€259.31

I think the 6350 would still work despite not being on the list. The board supports other 125w cpus. The 6350 is listed as 125w as well. You could just go with a 6300 if you want to be safe and overclock it to 6350 speeds. It would be fine for all of those games.

yeah it does support other 125w cpus but i read its to do with cooling issues or something.. im still stuck on what to do right now lol :P

Grab the 6300 and a 212 evo. It's the cheapest option and I'm betting it will overclock to at least 6350 levels.

I'd grab some vrm heatsinks for the board. The cooling mentioned is probably for these.

Improve your case airflow if possible and maybe grab a 120gb samsung 840 evo ssd if you want.

do you recommend any place to get vrm heatsinks?

It's hard to find them on most sites but I'm sure you can get them in a few places.

You want something like this anyway. Check the spacing on the vrms to see what will fit in there.
