    Hi,

I know there has been a lot of debate here about the merits or otherwise of part worn tyres and I don't want to get into that space. However, does anyone have any recommendations for places in Dublin that they have bought good part worns? Thanks

Theres no good or bad dealers. You need to go in knowing what you want.

Keep the fronts the same and rears the same.

Know whats a premium brand and whats ****.

Basically dont just go in and say give me 4 tires

Inspect well before you buy. Avoid cheapo brands

I used tyreland recently and was very impressed with the service. I originally intended replacing two tyres, but they inspected them, and informed me I only needed one, matched up the tyres so they were the same on the front and on the back, and fixed a slow puncture two other garages couldn't find.

So they replaced the one tyre that needed replacing, matched up the tyres on the front and one the back so they were the same, and fixed a puncture that was driving me nuts.

Excellent service and I've noticed a difference in the car driving since.

The one downside was that I specifically asked for the pressure to be set at 40/37 on the front/back, and they ignored me, but when I checked they reset it.

Tallaght tyres go out in person to Germany to pick them out, I've got some seriously good top brand tyres for various types of cars there.

A good set will transform a car coming off Chinese crap or worn branded, unbelievable difference compared to cheaper Chinese new crap.

When I say transform, I'm talking ride handling and comfort, aswell as the grip

Make sure you check the dates on some tyres OP, they may have lots of thread left but if its a six year old tyre it's more or less useless in my experience. Check for plugs etc etc too.

Had a bad experience myself with Tyreland Glasnevin, don't think I'd go back, very unimpressed with the tyres especially the 7 year old Michelins I was sold.
