Vague Job adverts. Door to door gowls

So I was creeping on the Internet last night creeping on jobs and applied for a load and forgot about most of the jobs.

I applied for one of those door to door jobs and I didn't realise because they had it worded a whole lot differently, kinda professional sounding,
They rang me today (Flawless marketing) saying I had an interview tomorrow and to dress professionally. So I got home form work and did my research and found out it was door to door selling phonewatch crap.

What is the point in telling me to dress professionally for a job walking around to houses in my normal clothes begging people to buy crap and earn nothing when I can sit on my hole and get the dole in a few weeks time when my job goes?
Maybe it isnt a door to door job? I crept on their facebook and they have a very low following of 500 people.

Will I go for the laugh and find out what it is? I have work at 11 and this at 10.
I have a trial job hopefully next week so I have nothing to lose by going or not going.

Everyone hates door to door people so perhaps I can be a secret agent and take them down from the inside, they made me get out of bed once to answer the door.

There's a whole thread on these sham organisations in the work and jobs forum but in the meantime why not go in and troll the bejaysus out of them. Post the hilarious consequences here.

    Just saw that know. Jaysus.

    Troll? whats that?
I was thinking of going just for the sadist in all of us to see what actually happens and report back, hopefully there will be a few travellers and gypsies. Once I found out I had no intention of going.

As I said, I have a trial next week and confident I will be so good at that the ladies will be wetting the floor with their lady juices, I am already investing in a solid schtick to beat them off.

I applied for a vaugue "no experience" required position with one of these crowds. Got called for an interview went in and the "Managing Director"spent the whole interview telling me how great I was and then how great their business model was. Although they wouldnt tell me what the exact work was or pay. Got called back for a second interview and i decided why not go back. All of a sudden I was sent in a car to a town an hour away.

Then the brainwashing started. Creepy fake smiles, impressive figures (Which I had rote learn!). Supposedly random chat between the other employess painting the place in a very good light. Then a load of cheesy quotes about success. While watching them trying intimidate people in switching electricity providers.

Eventually they admitted that pay is commission only. But strangely the managers get more per sale. But its OK because it only takes two months to become a manager with them. 10 hours of this ****e I was brought back to the office where once again they told me I was a superstar and I was being offered the job. Told em to shove it and walked out.

Basically what happens is your brainwashed into doing this ****e. The managers get a cut of your earnings while you work 70 hours a week for €100. Ive heard other stories that the compulsory training in the morning is actually just a brainwashing session. Complete with loud music, slideshow of people making sales, chanting and rousing speaches!

A cross between a cult and a pyramid scheme.

Maybe the job just isn't for you? I know a few people who do commission only door-to-door sales. They're doing alright for themselves.. though they take it seriously. Wouldn't be the kind of work I'd be looking for but if you're good at it then you're good at it.

You make it sound like it's akin to robbing people.. which isn't always true =p

Does the office have a bell or klaxon for when you beat your daily target? These kind of places love that kind of crap.

So I should stay in bed and have a **** in the morning instead of getting up? The interview place is a block away from my current work so I could pop in and get some compliments and head to work.

That brainwashing stuff is head wrecking. I had enough of that when I was assistant manager in Costa Coffee. Christ the emails the head office would send down were cringey. I would have to sit down with new staff and do the induction with them and read out in a monotone from a book. Christ.

Well it is kinda harassing someone at home when they want to be watching pawn stars.

Do they not do a lot of work?

Well I only want it for money, isnt that what we want most in a filler job? The company I work for is going bust end of september so need to find something for a while.
