    Hey folks,

I was in the market for a stove & a friend told me to go to a shop called 'best price' on the longmile road, dublin 12. I did & (sadly) they are closing down. However they are selling stoves & tiles & flooring @ really reduced prices. Baths, sinks, taps etc. I got my stove today for 199 (it was 279). The big reductions are in the bigger stoves. €1200 to € 600 ish ? I cant remember if it was 14 or 21kw, but it was gorgous. They have fab mantlepieces but sadly my budget didnt stretch! They are trading up to the 11th Sept. I cant find them online but they are just up from bike world on the longmile.
    Regards
    Eveanne

With regards the stoves being that cheap.....you get what you pay for.

Cheap chinese made stuff that will be a pig to get replacement/service parts for.

And alot of those chinese stoves just fall to bits after a while anyway.

I was hoping for a Stanley or some such... probably a bit overoptimistic of me.

Had a quick look this morning.

All the stoves are unbranded Chinese stoves.....a complete biatch to get parts for and can also fail unexpectedly.

The flooring and tiles on sale are not too bad,and the sinks and shower enclosures are ok,but are nothing that special.

    +1

I visited a dedicated stove shop here in Co.Wexford and was warned about this place and their cheap stoves which warped and fell to bits on buyers,no comeback of course.

Im not going to comment any further on the Chinese unbranded stoves.

All I will say to people is the following.

It PAYS....(in the long run).....to reserach the stove in question and where parts can be got......if parts can be even had in the 1st place.

Also after sales warranty/service should anything fail.

    Best Regards.:)

You have to be very careful when choosing to buy unbranded stoves. The likely hood of getting spare parts when something goes wrong is slim to nil. Anyone looking to buy a stove in Ireland should stick to Waterford Stanley, Blacksmith Stoves, Cashin or Billberry.
    You are guaranteed quality.
The reason why people buy stoves in the first place is to save money on their home heating costs, the only way you are going to do this is if you invest in quality

    Hi bewhiched,

I may be able to help you. Would you be able to give me some of your requirements? e.g: measurements of the room you whish to heat. (floor area x ceiling height)

Drove across and very disappointed by both selection and price. The chinese stove for 199 was originally 239 so hardly closing down prices and as for tiles and fire places, you will as well if not better in any of the usual all year round sales in other shops which at the minute are staying open hence no issue with guarantee, parts etc.

I have a Stovax Riva 66 8kw inset multi fuel stove.

Quality bit of kit and parts readily available.:)

Plenty of good Irish and UK makes of stoves that will do the job nicely.

I wouldnt touch an unbranded chinese stove with a barge pole......and I would advize anyone here looking for a cheap deal not to touch them either.

I spent around 1 month going around various stove/fireplace shops in Leinster doing my homework and getting prices for supply only and also supply and fit..

Got written quotes and played the various shops off each other for the best deal.:)

Have the Stovax Riva 66 in around 2.5 years now and very happy with the performance.

I had to get the fireplace/lower chimney breast demolished and a new one built to suit the Stovax though.

Would have to agree stovax is a serious stove would have to add jotul and morso to any prospective list. Some great advice in the thread referenced above by rubygirl. Its worth paying for an efficient branded stove. More heat, less emmisions and saving on fuel in the long run. As paddy147 says, well worth doing your research.

The new Firebird insert stove is also a great piece of kit,I'm very impressed.

For anyone looking for cheap tiles, flooring, bathroom stuff and stoves I recommend Tile Store & More in Enniscorthy, not affiliated with them but found their prices and quality to be superb.(No Chinese stoves either)

Definitely better buying a secondhand branded one than a chinese piece of junk, cast iron is at the best of times stressed and brittle and a stove is about the most torturous application for any material with the thermal cycling.

If you get a good non enamelled stove then half an hour with zeebrite will have it looking like new.
