Is the position of transition year coordinator a post?
How much time/class periods should be allocated to the position of ty coordinator?

It depends from school to school I suppose.
Some schools have a full year group as TYs. Other have only one class group if it is optional.

Have you been asked to be a TY coordinator? Are you getting time off for it?

It would be dependent on a number of factors, but in some schools it would be an A post, and in others a B. At the very least it should be a B post, but without appointments it is now becoming problematic for many schools, as is the position of year head.
If you do it now without a post, and continue in the position for more than one year and one day, then legally you have assumed the role under custom and practice. What this means then is that your principal can dump it on you forever and you will never be paid for it.
