Private blog with specific users?

    Hi folks,

Hope I'm in the right forum. I am looking at the possibility of creating a blog for our schools' PTA.

Is it possible to set up a private blog that only specific users can view? Ideally, it can only be updated by one person and everyone on the list will receive a notification when it's updated.

Otherwise, another option I'm looking into is something like those old yahoo groups (do they still exist?) but I don't want everyone to be bombarded with emails when people respond. Etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!!!

Wordpress, Joomla etc allow you to have 'registered users' and ordinary users (aka punters). You can assign articles or sections so that they are only visible to the registered users (pta) and then the rest (if any) is open to the public .

Notification should be fairly straightforward, will require a plugin (plenty free available). You could also look at community form add-ons - for a bit of lively debate and moderation!

Community builder for Joomla is worth a look - just to see what angles are available - there are plenty more like it out there.

Thanks! I'll have a read through those. Can't guarantee it will make sense so I might be back!

You can look into "password protect my blog" on google, various ways there to do it.
