Download something like the Photobucket app to your phone. Then through that upload them and once that's done you can get a link from the photo that you just paste into your post!

Thanks Dave I will try that out.
I do intend to wash, de-ironise, de-tar and Autoglym (SRP/EGP) the whole car soon so it'll come in handy to show off my work.

Bought a new hose yesterday that was long enough to go from the tap in the back garden right the way out to the front of my drive way for the power washer, only to find the nossle on the hose is too small to fit around the tap ! The car does not want to be washed

How small? If its just a small bit put fairy liquid on the tap and gradually push it in. Then seal it with a hose clamp.

Nope there's too big a difference.
Will either need to get a new nossle for tap or hose. Will try Woodies and see if they have some universal gadget I could tr.

Best thing about iron x is getting people to smell the bottle....

Line them up with some of the best smelling products you have and by the time you get around to the likes of a fall-out remover they are taking a massive inhalation! :D

    welll.... how did it go?

I picked up a bottle of Turtlewax Ice Wheel Cleaner over the weekend and gave it a go. fair bit of "bleeding" from exactly where all the backed dust build up is - but it did piss all to remove it all though.

If it's a regular garden tap then this should do the trick: http://www.hozelock.com/watering/hose-fittings/connect-to-tap/2175---tap-connector.html

You unscrew the nozzle from the tap and screw this on in its place. Any hardware shop will have them.

It's useful to put one of these on the end of the hose you're connecting to the pressure washer too: http://www.hozelock.com/watering/hose-fittings/connect-to-gun-sprinkler/aquastop-connector-12-5mm-15mm-2185.html

It means you can turn on the tap and then bring the hose around the front with you without running over and back.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Cheers man.
With a bit of luck I'll grab on today and hopefully get around to giving the car a good wash, even though i probably won't get to polish it.

There are lots of fall out removers out there - but only a small number are very effective. The problem is, that the bad ones are often "all show", in the sense that they bleed great but dont do anything.
Iron X and Iron Cleanse are two best out there, by a long way. Iron Cleanse was a bit ahead of Iron X, but since they've released the new formulation, which is a concentrate, its way better. Iron Cleanse now, diluted 1:1 with water is about 80% effective as the original Iron Cleanse, so you get twice as much and still get a very effective fallout remover, with the extra power if you need it.
Also, a thing to remember is that, if they fallout remover is more like a gel, it will cling for longer, so bleeding will be slower...but effectiveness is better! So its not all about how quickly or how much a fall out remover bleeds!

ach I just picked it up because it was the only thing on the shelf in halfrauds. I read some quick reviews online that it was just as good as iron-x, evidentally though, those reviewers were telling porky pies.

the problem I have is that there are little locations in the elbows of the alloys where there is quite a build up of baked on brake dust. I just can't seem to shift it.

You need a proper fallout remover to get into those hard to reach areas, as they are the areas that get least attention on regular washing and it builds up there!!

Eh?????? It's after turning the discs to a rusty colour?

Before and after, only the after looks horrible.
    What will remove that rust?

Rotors always get a coat of rust during a wash. One stop and they'll be back to normal :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

But i've never seen them that bad !
I was afraid the Iron X reacted badly. Will drive it out later and see how it is :)

Same here for mine and all good after a quick journey, lovely looking wheels btw

It all came off after a drive - panic over ! :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,885 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Slattsy - your discs have Iron particles from the brake pads embedded and baked into them. Of course it's going to look different because the Iron Cleanse will remove all this leaving a cleaner surface so it will look more rusty. It's only flash rust and happens all cars after washing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

I realise that but it looked a million times worse after the iron x and it just freaked me out. I thought i done something wrong!
Never crossed my mind to drive the bloody thing!

Anyone know of a supplier for Iron Cleanse around Dublin/Meath?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 635 ✭✭✭BillJ

Detailingshed.com, have ordered from them before and can recommend, pm Curran on here.

I think they were doing an offer of Iron CLeanse, Tar Cleanse and Wheel Cleanse recently, not sure if it's still going.

Thanks for the tip BillJ. Curran sorted me out yesterday. Very sound bloke who went out of his way to get me fixed up.Highly recommended!

Someone posted awhile back with a product similar to ironX but abit cheaper and on the "generic halfords" side of things but I cant for the life of me remember what it could be, any ideas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Turtle Wax Ice Wheel Cleaner?? Say it turns colour, so Im guessing thats what it might be!

Wouldn't have a patch on Iron Cleanse or Iron X and not a whole lot cheaper. Though its a 750ml bottle....Iron Cleanse and Iron X would be 500ml. The Iron Cleanse is a concentrate so can be diluted to your needs.....so maybe neat on the first use but 1:1 every time after.
