neXt Computer

    This was Steve Jobs' "cool" project prior to his return to Apple.
    For the time, the next was a revolutionary machine, notwithstanding its' sheer expense.
    Looking back though, it seems to have been a bit over rated. There was no successor to the neXt. I don't recall seeing much software on sale for the next in the shops.

    It was a business system, software for it would not have been on-sale in consumer retail outlets. MacOS X and hence iOS were developed from NextStep.

    The only thing I remember of them was that one was used by Tim Berners-Lee when creating the World Wide Web.

    Here's Tim's own panegyric on the machine (and man).

    So they have a place in Internet history.
