May be a bit late, but I did it, got a 2.1 and enjoyed the course, did not like the heavy financial accounting element in it, and struggled a bit with it.... thats the main thing you may have to work on. I loved management accounting and economics and management in the degree.

Theres a broad range of options in final year which you can specialise in, its a really worthwile degree if you want to be a problem solver or quantitatively minded in all aspects or areas of a business. Not just a standard BS degree its more, and more highly valued I think. What I picked up and I didn't realize, you can solve problems and analyze better than the standard business degree. I ended up in IT, others ended up in Economics and Finance, some in HR and Marketing, others did the standard masters in accounting and sold their souls to the BIG 4 for 3 years.

Didn't do this course but did another with accounting. Didn't have accounting for my Leaving cert. I managed it and got out the other end but I wouldn't recommend it. Too stressful and way too much "basics" that I still struggle with. Luckily my course was mainly business so I only had a couple modules of accounting a year, definitely couldn't imagine myself just doing accounting.

I love accounting. Im in first year accounting and finance now and it is not that much accounting yet. I do law, management, economics and computers it. So far its grand . The degree leaves me with a lot of options. I personally dont like Business studies. I,ve always wanted to do something more specific. Not that it is bad. The course is really varied. I would reccommend accounting because it is challenging and you are more likely to get a job as well. In general college is hard work. there is a difficult element in every course. Also you specialise in final year. It doesn't matter if you didnt do LC accounting. loads in my class didnt. The lectures start from the beginning very basic. Apparently in my college most students who didnt do Acc work harder than those who have done it. some people who done are confindent and dont perform as much as they expected. Everything is hard work

If im correct, mary canning and advanced international accounting is a bit of a sweat.

For accounting subjects, as long as you can + - / x you're grand, accounting maths is fine, you have to select financial mathematics as an option but i would avoid, its pretty tough, did grand but put a lot of effort in compared to other options out there.
