The girlfriend and I are thinking about get a PT to show us the correct form for squat/deadlift etc. I have done most of the big free weight exercises (all except deadlift) in the past but I would like someone to make sure I'm doing everything properly. My GF is totally new to it. Are there any PTs around south Dublin on this forum that could give me an idea of the cost of something like this?

Could we both be shown the moves together?
Will we only need the one session to get the basics?
How long is a typical session?
Are most PTs based out of gyms or do some work from home?

Hey! Speaking from personal experience... I'm in a gym in D8 and they provide personal trainers. So your trainer measures everything and comes up with a program for you. Then you have a personal session with them where they show you how to do everything and you can ask them as many questions as you want. Then you make the next appointment usually a month later, where they will take your measurements again and develop a new program for you. I ask to meet them every 2 weeks, as I don't want to be stuck with a program for a month and then find out that it's actually not working for me.

I'm sure there are independent PTs that you can find online or something, but most gyms will provide you with one and you don't need to see them everytime you workout. I think once every 2 weeks is enough. I'm sure you could arrange one appointment for both, yourself and your girlfriend. Also, the personal training sessions in gyms are included in the membership fee. Hope this helps you a little. :)

Look at that, two trainers recommending the same trainer. That should tell the poster something!!! :D

I also have positive things to say about Dave in SDSC, having trained with him a good few times. Good about.
