What bones have you broken?

Im a few weeks into recovering from breaking my arm and I was wondering what others have done to keep themselves busy when recovering. Im house bound for now so its mostly been:

    • Friends and family dropping over for tea and chats
    • Rewatching old TV shows in full and movies and games (that only need one arm!) on the iPad
    • Starting work on a new online idea I have
    • Thinking of learning Spanish with Linguaphone or similar
    • Discovering Boards and other forums for a good read
What bones have you broken, how long did it take to recover and how did you stay sane in between?

Movies that only need one arm, eh?

Why are you housebound? Did you break your arm off completely or something?

Broke the collarbone of a bloke who tried to break into my house.

Turned out the poor man was just trying to save me money on me energy bills.

    Just to clarify :)

Its a serious double break and, although Ive being getting out of the house for some drives with friends, its been recommended that I rest up at home.

I'm on this site years and I can't figure out the list function and this one armed dude figures it out in his first post. No fair.

Maybe the OPs house is far far away in the wilds of Donegal and you have to drive there.

I've broken my elbow and had two operations to pin it back together and also broken my nose and jaw (at the same time) and I wasn't housebound! I just did what I usually do, albeit plastered up a bit.

I broke my leg when i got a new swimming pool.
Stayed inside, wrote a musical and thought my neighbour murdered his wife.

I assume the OP mistyped and meant both his legs. I broke my arm as a teenager. You can only imagine the quizzical expression on my face the first time I realised how it would affect number-twos.

I broke my knee and tore ligaments in my ankle on the first night of electric picnic, stayed there, danced all weekend, and didn't go to get it checked til the Monday. So there.

I've only ever broken my nose. It's still in need of treatment (I can't breathe properly through it, deviated septum and I can twist my nose around and click it and move it in weird ways), but after having cameras shoved down the back of it without being given time for the anasthetic to kick in, I refuse to have the recommended rhinoplasty. Fcuk that.

To recover, I drank until I no longer felt any pain, then went to the hospital five days later. :D

The only time I ever broke a bone was when I fell over on an ice-rink. Here are the before and after surgery pics

God damn, if I can remember it all.

Left elbow, radial head and scaphoid (wrist) in a motorbike crash.

Left wrist when I fell off a ladder (dislocated my hand, it was fu*king horrible).

Right wrist when I fell off a roof in Lebanon.

Right ankle twice, fighting both times.

Ribs, a few times plus some fingers and toes lol.

Only one kept me housebound and that was the fall from the ladder and only because the pain was so extreme.

When I'm laid up with an injury I'll take the time to study something and really get into it.

Best of luck with your injury OP.

Serious question, what does "broke my knee" mean in your previous post?
I wouldn't have thought there is a specific knee to break

      scaphoid (wrist)

Thats the fecker that broke on me. The hospital x rayed and said nothing was wrong so I was walking around with a broken bone. I ran into a gate (it was dark and I am blind as a bat) and broke it more. . . The hospital said they could not do anything, the cast never healed it, so I broke it a few more times, very weak. Plus it sticks out like a freaky boner on my wrist.

Broke 2 bones in my wrist when I was 11. Broke the same two bones a couple of years ago. Getting arthritis now as a result.

My wrist while on my bmx. Not bone related but I was playing with washing line, I ended up swinging around the line and part of my nose came apart from my face

Broke my ankle in 3 places when I was about 20 on my first motorbike. Tore the **** out of my arms as well. The surgeon wanted to amputate the leg but me being a cocky little b*llix I told him no and argued about it. In the end they sent me home with my leg in a cast. To this day I find it hard to walk in a straight line :pac:

My left ankle 3 times, my right arm, two fingers and I dislocated my shoulder too. Oh, and my tailbone.

I've also sprained my left ankle at least a dozen times, I never gave it a chance to hear properly after the first break and it never regained its strength. Paying for it now :(

    • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,284 ✭✭✭Chattastrophe!

My right arm, doing a handstand, and several bones in my left foot, doing karate. Don't remember being housebound for any length with either of them, but I was a lot younger then!

I did try to get out of doing homework with the broken arm ... didn't work though. :(
