EOS 550d 18-55mm lens - focus broken

I just tried to take a photo with my EOS 550d with its standard 18-55mm lens and it couldn't focus. I switched to Manual Focus and the focus ring does not turn - jammed.

My 2 year old dropped my camera onto a wooden floor yesterday.

Any suggestions to investigate further before looking at repair or replace options?

This particular lens is pretty simple internally and is usually the front focus barrel having been knocked out of position and jamming.
Is the front of the lens leaning to one side at all?

    Not that I can see.

I saw a YouTube video demonstrating how to disassemble the lens. I plan to give that a try.
I did take the lens off the camera and look inside it (when element at camera end furthest away). I could see the slider route for the focus but could not see anything amiss.
